Former Smithfield Town Council member, Angelica Bovis, has announced her candidacy for Town Council. Bovis is a lifelong Smithfield resident, attended Smithfield Public Schools, and has served on the Smithfield Land Trust, Budget and Financial Review Board, and currently sits on the Planning Board. Bovis recounts “it was a privilege to serve the residents on the Town Council, and I hope to have that privilege again in November.”
Bovis stated that if elected to the Town Council she will prioritize responsible economic growth, preserve open space for future generations, and implement a secure and sustainable budget with minimal impact on residents. Bovis will continue to advocate on behalf of all residents and recognizes that every section of town faces its own unique issues. If elected, Bovis plans to implement a more collaborative approach to local government, welcoming residents to share their ideas and hold elected officials accountable for progress.
During her two years on the Council, and again while she served on the Budget and Financial Review Board, Bovis worked tirelessly to minimize tax consequences on residents and budget responsibly. In her current position on the Planning Board, she scrutinizes new development and is always informed. Bovis intends to continue this effort.
“I look forward to having the opportunity to serve the residents of Smithfield and pledge to support positive change and collaborative policy making to ensure success” said Bovis
