Pawswatch Community Cat Center

The Smithfield Times Magazine and the PawsWatch Community Cat Center are working together to find loving homes for kitties that are currently living in their shelter. Here are their stories:

MARINO:
The miracle of Marino! Marino was found at a marina in a local city and rescued by the Fire Department who safely removed his head, which was caught in a sewer grate. This poor boy was dirty, scared and so unsure of his future when he arrived at our doors due to the traumatic experience he had endured. We cleaned him

up and tended to all his medical needs. Given some time to heal and rest, Marino’s black and white tuxedo coat looked soft and clean once again. Not to mention, the sparkle and life returned to his eyes. Marino is estimated to be around two years old and has come a long way thanks to the environment of love, encouragement and safety provided by our volunteers. He enjoys company, getting brushed and the feel of a soft, gentle pet to his head. Each day, his level of trust grows ever stronger. Marino is a true tale of a “rescue cat.” There is no kitty more deserving of unconditional love and a forever home to call all his very own than for the brave, sweet and heroic Marino.

DASHER & VIXEN:
Double trouble! Say hello to a bonded pair of sibling brothers named Dasher & Vixen. These silky grey panthers do everything together. Their fellow siblings have since been adopted and this playful duo are patiently waiting for their turn. They’ve been with us for quite some time at our cat center and can often be found napping atop a cat tower, gazing out the windows, or tussling with one another having a blast. Dasher & Vixen tend to prefer the company of their kitty friends more so than us humans and can be a bit

aloof at times. However, when in the mood, they will allow some quality pets and a good dose of interactive playtime with their favorite toys is always welcome. Dasher & Vixen are lively, frisky, and very entertaining. They would thrive best in a home that understands their boundaries and respects their independence.

HARVEY:
Meet handsome, hunky Harvey! This big boy is approximately 3 ½ years old, has piercing green eyes and the cutest, roundest face you’ve ever seen! His brown and black tiger stripes are offset by his snow-white mittens and booties! Harvey very much loves attention on his terms. Harvey has been in a loving foster care home that allowed him to feel safe. He shows his affection with a head butt or a loud purr! Gentle pets to his head and body are always welcome. His foster mom says Harvey thoroughly enjoys the company of his fellow feline friends around. In fact, he doesn’t appear to be bothered in any way by dogs too. Mealtimes are his favorite part of the day! Harvey is not finicky one bit when it comes to his food, so it’s best to keep an eye out that he stays at a healthy weight. Harvey’s ideal

happily-ever-after home would include a comfy bed, a place to bask in the sunshine, and an owner with an open heart.
