Dear Smithfield Times readers,
From beach chairs and bathing suits to black cats and broomsticks—it’s officially fall. With school back in session, productivity and grounding is the overall vibe for many of us. We’re preparing for the holiday season and all the activities that take place during the chillier months of the year. This month’s issue touches upon many of the tenets of the autumnal season.
October’s cover story introduces you to a Smithfield couple who recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Paul Lonardo spoke with this devoted duo, and they shed light on what it took them to reach this impressively loving milestone. October 19 is Sweetest Day—and boy, isn’t this couple sweet?
Like the leaves that change color each fall, change is abundant throughout town, too. This month, Joe Siegel shares major updates about the Boyle Athletic Complex located at Smithfield High School. Mark Carrier attended a girls’ soccer game for some exclusive new photos.
Finally, Gabrielle Finch spoke with a Chair Yoga instructor from Rhode Island who encourages people of all kinds to try this accessible type of yoga. It is truly for any body!
As a reminder, the General Election is Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Early voting runs from October 16-November 4. Visit vote.sos.ri.gov to check your voter registration status, find your polling place, and other voter-related information.
Happy Fall!
Warmest regards,
Brittni Henderson
