Gallagher student is finalist in pageant, raising funds

Christina Parrillo, an honor student at Vincent J. Gallagher Middle School, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Rhode Island pageant. This event will be held July 21 to 23 at the Sheraton Springfield Hotel in Springfield, Mass. The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages 4-18 and have five different age divisions.

Christina will be participating in the Miss Southern New England Pre-Teen age division, along with other young ladies from across the state of Rhode Island. The four runners-up will be invited to the national pageant where they will compete in a separate competition for the National All-American Miss title.

From this opportunity Christina is trying to grow confidence, as well as an understanding on how to set goals for herself and how to achieve them, also to gain communication skills for success in all aspects of her life.

“I am very grateful and excited about this opportunity. I will do my best to represent my state and community. I’m looking forward to make new friends and having a great time experiencing this with my family” Christina said.
