Through adversity and challenges, Head Games Hair Salon opens new location in North Providence

By Brittni Henderson

Picture the most perfectly crafted French braid. Each grouping of hair intertwined meticulously as they weave in, out, and between one another. Every strand of hair is secured, yet delicate; strong yet at the same time, could come undone at any second.

At Head Games Hair Salon, the owners, staff, and clientele are just as finely and tightly knit together as this hairstyle. Owned by best friends Jackie Pannone and Melissa Duva, this sanctuary of beauty has become more than just a job—it’s a family affair.

Both Pannone and Duva have been in the industry since the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. The duo decided to join forces and open Head Games 12 years ago, and it has been more than just a place to come to get your haircut or nails done.

Clients are described to be like family members to all of the staff at Head Games, and the dynamic upon entering their pristinely crafted space is nothing short of peaceful and community driven.

Over the past year, Pannone and Duva decided it was time to upgrade their salon to a bigger space to accommodate the influx of clientele, as well as a way to give this part of their lives a “fresh start.”

Pannone faced major health concerns during this time, and at the precipice of these unfortunate circumstances, she faced a tragic loss that only added more sadness to her and the lives of her family members. Luckily, Pannone not only had her strong relatives, but her salon family to build her back up again. The incidents that occurred over the past year will not be forgotten or overlooked by the new salon, but it will only reinstate why Pannone and the Head Games staff do what they do each and every day.

Whether it’s a fresh cut and color, manicure, or wax, Pannone and Duva know that they are bringing light to each and every client’s life as she sees herself at the end of an appointment.

“It’s so rewarding,” Pannone shares. “Making clients happy makes me feel very happy. We love what we do and hope to continue doing it for as long as we can.”

Head Games’ new salon, which is located at 360 Sunset Ave, North Providence, is always accepting new clients. Individuals of every age and style are warmly welcomed into the family.
