Jason Oliveira has been designing since 2003. During his career, Jason has worked for a few companies with different business models, from a kitchen center in a lumber yard to most recently designing for a kitchen and bath center that transitioned into a design and build firm. He had been there for the past nine years and was the head designer before he came to work for Douglas Lumber last August. As the Kitchen & Bath manager, he manages a team of four full-time designers and one part-time designer/logistics person.
“I help out with any of the day-to-day issues that come up or questions that the designers or customers may have,” Jason says. “And along with that responsibility, I also still design myself.”
Much of the business Jason sees is generated from referrals of clients that Douglas Lumber has served previously. Because the company has been around for so many years now, more than four decades in the same location, at 125 Douglas Pike, the work is steady but the standards are high, which is what their customers have come to expect. Jason believes that Douglas Lumber offers more in service and reliability than the big-box stores, like Lowes and Home Depot, so their client base has remained loyal.
Most of the customers Jason sees are already working with a contractor, but if someone comes in who doesn’t have one, the customer will be referred to one of the many contractors they worked with in all areas of Rhode Island, as well as nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Whether it’s a new construction project working with a builder or homeowner, or a renovation project working with a contractor, Jason and his team at Douglas Lumber can design your dream space you are looking for that will fit your lifestyle and budget.
Jason also says “We’re not just kitchens & bathrooms we design cabinetry to fit your lifestyle and your whole house. Rooms like a nice home office, laundry room, wet bars, an entry seating bench or even a nice entertainment center. We’re really versatile and we can accommodate the needs of any client, from your basic layouts to designing high-end custom kitchens and bathrooms.”
Douglas Lumber has an impressive showroom with more than 30 displays, including 18 fully-assembled kitchen displays that clients may browse through at their leisure with no pressure sales. Jason and his team are there to answer any questions, and when a client is ready, help them install the bathrooms and kitchens they are looking for. Free estimates can be provided, and a CAD (computer-aided design) program is used to aid in the creation and modification of a kitchen or bath design, so clients can see exactly what their rooms will look like when completed.
Douglas Lumber offers an extensive selection of kitchen cabinets, providing an unlimited number of style and color combinations. They can provide information on all the current styles, options, and features that are available. With brands such as Wolf, Merillat, Schrock, KitchenCraft, Decora and Wood Mode, they can design a kitchen to fit any need.
Kitchens by Douglas is excited to announce that their kitchen showroom is now on Houzz, a website and online community about architecture, interior design and decorating, landscape design and home improvement.
In 2015, Kitchens by Douglas of Smithfield was awarded “Best Of Houzz” for Customer Satisfaction by Houzz. Smithfield was chosen by the more than 25 million monthly unique users that comprise the Houzz community from among more than 500,000 active home building, remodeling and design industry professionals. The Best Of Houzz award is given in two categories: Design and Customer Satisfaction. Customer Satisfaction honors are determined by a variety of factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received. And you can bet that Jason and his team have their sights set on a Best of Houzz for Design.
Jason was born and raised, and still resides, in nearby Cumberland. He’s bilingual, and being able to speak fluent Portuguese is something that is very useful, as a good number of their customers are of Portuguese descent.
He can’t say enough about his new employer and his co-workers who welcomed him with open arms and treated him like one of their own from his first day there.
“They understand the ups and downs, and the ins and outs of the construction industry and the kitchen and bath world,” Jason says.
